This initiative pairs incoming physicians with experienced colleagues to support professional development, encourage peer connection, and build confidence from day one.

BCMHSUS administration provides a comprehensive orientation and onboarding package for new forensic physicians. There is a forensic-specific orientation and onboarding checklist that new physicians can work through during their first thirty-days of employment with the Forensic Psychiatric Service. The Navigator Program supports professional development, fosters peer collaboration, and enhances the overall professional experience for newly recruited forensic physicians. New forensic physicians are paired with more experienced forensic physician advisors who provide informal guidance and peer support during the new recruits’ initial period of practice within the Forensic Psychiatric Services.
