FPES Education Policy

INTENT OF POLICY

The purpose of this policy is to provide a means of regulation for funding being used for educational purposes that coincide with the Memorandum of Understanding for Facility Engagement and align with the guidelines within FPES.

BACKGROUND

This policy is to ensure that members understand the expectations surrounding the request for funds from FPES and the intake process.

POLICY

This policy applies to members of the Forensic Physician Engagement Society who are requesting permission to use FPES funding to assist in the payment of sessional hours as well as actual payment of educational course or conference.

Prior to applying for funding through FPES, physicians will need to determine if the educational course or conference that is chosen, is eligible for reimbursement through the JCC $10k per year scholarship.

FPES Executive Board has agreed to pay up to 10 hours of sessional pay and reimburse for a maximum of $500 total per year towards the cost for any course NOT directly related to patient care, that aligns with the rules and regulations laid out in the Facility Engagement Funding Guidelines under Continuing Professional Development located on the Facility Engagement Website.

Any persons wishing to apply for education funds will need to fill out an Engagement Initiative Letter of Intent located here.

The letter will then be reviewed by the board to ensure that it meets society requirements and aligns with funding guidelines.

Any society member wishing to acquire funding for the purpose of continuing education, will need to ensure they are providing the Society with a summary of the event, course, or education learned upon completion.

NOTE: Education Funds cannot be used for maintaining a physician’s license or practice.
